Many of the great sessions at the DFW/SEM event I attended earlier this month were focused on content marketing and search.

It’s not surprising that topic was hot at an SEO conference. Content is the hot buzzword (for me it always has been) and based on Google’s Panda and Penguin algorithm updates over the two years, which focused on delivering a better user experience, those sites scraping content or putting up duplicate content were seriously penalized.

Earlier this month Iwas  invited to present affiliate channel information to the Dallas/Fort Worth SEM (DFWSEM.org) State of Search event held in Dallas. I was talking to someone at the breakfast and his first question was: “Did Panda and Penguin kill the affiliate channel?” Obviously, I wasn’t talking to the choir as I have done many times in the past. I knew I needed to address some misconceptions about the affiliate channel.
