Online marketers are under pressure to show ROI and how they contribute to the corporate bottom line. So, it’s inevitable that they have started to use their available data to attempt to measure the value of everything related to social media and marketing campaigns.

So, what are certain actions taken in social media worth? Well, I found that estimates vary and there doesn’t seem to be standardized measurement formulas for calculation. Also many user actions taken in social media (likes, retweets, tweets, pins, shares, etc.) are have different values for individual brands based on factors including the cost of acquisition, size of the brand, the product/service being offered, number of followers and more.

I just finished reading the book “The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon” written by Brad Stone, a senior writer at Bloomberg Businessweek and a former reporter for The New York Times and Newsweek.

The book is an inside look at Bezos and the relatively secretive corporate culture at Amazon. Prior to reading the book, I had heard snippets about Bezos’s difficult personality and the corporate culture he created. I really just had a good grip on Amazon’s business model and my perception of it from a customer point of view.

I was surprised to read a study last week that claims nearly 90 percent of marketers are not trained in marketing performance and marketing ROI.

The study, (Global Marketing Effectiveness Program), was conducted by UK market researcher, The Fournaise Marketing Group, surveyed 1,200 CEOs, and management and marketing decision-makers in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
