Quasar Biotech is offering the most advanced skin care devices to the home consumers seeking anti-aging or acne treatments. Previously, this level of professional skin care was only available at a dermatologist, a skin care specialist or at a spa.

The Baby Quasar is sold at retail in premium stores including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bliss and on Quasar’s website. Quasar originally launched its affiliate program in January. The company has more than 4,000 affiliates and currently runs the program on Commission Junction. It also recently launched on and has plans to expand to other networks over the next 12 months.

According to Alex Webster, vice president of marketing and sales for the Sarasota, FL.-based company, it  is looking to more than double its number of affiliates in 2011, including the recruitment of more super affiliates. The company is also attempting to focus on its best-performing affiliates, which at this time are those running websites that focus specifically on skincare.

“When our product gets reviewed by opinion leaders with skin care sites, we are very well received,” Webster says. “We are not just putting up offers on coupon sites.”

Commissions for affiliates are between 10 to 15 percent across the board for affiliates. The average sale is between $400 and $450. And the company’s website is converting at about 1 percent.

“The thing that drives customers is that we have a brand name that is known and loved. It’s accepted and known as a premium and luxury brand,” says Webster. “Affiliates want to represent us, get great commissions and deal with a great product with a prestigious name.”

In the coming year, Quasar also will begin using new marketing strategies including behavioral targeting.
